Galaxy Centaurus A, image from the European Southern Observatory. Centaurus A lies about 12 million light-years away in the southern constellation of Centaurus and has the distinction of being the most prominent radio galaxy in the sky. Astronomers think that the bright nucleus, strong radio emission and jet features are produced by a central black hole with a mass of about 100 million times that of the Sun.
